ETSI  & 3GPP  @

Welcome

At MWC 2010, ETSI - together with 3GPP - once again had a booth presence to facilitate interaction with existing members, to promote itself amongst a larger audience  and last but not least to create awareness of its areas of activity.
At this year's event the main focus was on promoting key areas of activity regarding mobile communications, particularly LTE / LTE Advanced technology and thus 3GPP. Particular attention was given to not only raising awareness of ongoing telecoms-related activities but specifically on promoting new initiatives such as M2M, ITS, INT, etc.

Live presentations on ‘Security', ‘Machine-to-Machine' and ‘Enhancing the user experience' were given on three consecutive days at the booth.  Following the presentations, a drinks reception took place that provided an ideal networking opportunity.

The presentations are available for download !

LTE On Monday, 15th February, Charles Brookson looked at the security work within ETSI and some of the latest risks and threats to security which have happened in the last year. He looked at the motivation of those who try to break security, and what can be done to counteract this.

On Wednesday, 17th February, Mike Pluke gave a presentation on enhancing the user experience. He explored how the latest user interaction technologies can lead to a compelling user experience that sells products. He showed that getting this aspect wrong makes the cleverest underlying technology fail in the marketplace! ETSI is currently identifying the benefits of deploying future user interaction technologies whilst identifying how to design around potential weaknesses and avoid those embarrassing and costly market failures that all too easily happen.
