Sophia Antipolis, 1-3 December 2009

The ETSI TC GRID Workshop, organised and hosted by ETSI in Sophia Antipolis, France, took place on 2-3 December 2009.
In a first event of its kind, the ETSI TC Grid brought together key stakeholders of the grid, cloud and telecommunication domains in a back-to-back interoperability demonstration PlugtestsTM (01 – 02 December) and Workshop (02 – 03 December).
This event provided the telecommunication community with a better picture regarding state-of-the-art products in this domain as well as the adoption of agreed specifications and standards. It also demonstrated resource reservation and deployment of applications onto different cluster, (grid) middleware, cloud computing infrastructures based on an ETSI TC Grid test specification.
Demonstrations were given on:
o Cloud computing with SGE by Sun Microsystems
o Cloud computing with tivoli/cloudburst by IBM
o ETSI GCM with Proactive/LSF/Amazon/SGE by INRIA
o IMOD with Amazon and Eucalyptus by Kaavo
o OGF OCCI demo with OpenNebula by Universidad Complutense de Madrid
o OGF HPC Basic Profile interoperability demo with Platform Computing/UNICORE/GridSAM/KnowARC by OGF.
More than 70 delegates, a lot of them coming from Research area but also from the industry actively participated to this very interactive workshop and demonstrations.
The agenda included numerous sessions, with presentations given by experts representing organizations such as ETSI TC GRID, Alcatel-lucent Bell Labs , Animoto.com, BT Global Services, Conformiq, IBM, INRIA, the 451 Group, Microsoft Corp, Nokia Siemens Networks, OGF, Sun Microsystems, Telefonica I + D and various European Research projects including NEXOF-RA Project, IRMOS, RESERVOIR, SLA@SOI as well as universities (TU Dortmund University).
