Summary
This 1st workshop attracted about 100 participants.

HBB is a joint effort from broadcasters, ISPs and telcos, consumers electronics and research bodies to offer both broadcast/cable delivery and broadband delivery to the end user devices. The system may prove to be the 'normal' TV delivery system of the future.
This workshop was an occasion to meet and discuss with the industry players who are currently working on this concept.

Key topics discussed included:

  • Overview of ETSI and EBU activities in the media delivery areas, as well as the work in DVB and in the Open IPTV Forum.
  • Outline of the specific work item and work programme of HBB (to be standardised in ETSI)
  • HBB in two major Interactive TV environments, MHEG5 and MHP

Presentations were given by experts representing organizations such as ETSI, EBU, DVB Project, ANT Software Ltd, Philips International, Alticast, KPN, Freebox, NBC
